What does it run on?
InfoCenter is a web application written in Microsoft's
leading edge development platform .NET. The system uses
a standard Windows server environment to run and includes
Windows Server and Internet Information Systems (IIS).
It utilizes Microsoft SQL Server to provide a fully scalable
solution. Implementation can range from a single facility
with several units to a statewide rollout with hundreds
of units.
Security
Security in the system is a key consideration. There are
several measures in place to ensure the system is secure.
Fingerprint Login
Each kiosk is protected with a biometric fingerprint login
to restrict access to authorized inmates. An automatic
time logout is available if the kiosk is not used within
a predefined time period. On successful identification
of the inmate, the system initiates the user's personal
session on the system.
Database Encryption
All data in the database is encrypted at the database
server level so the information stored in the system is
secure.
Secure Communication
All data transfer between the server and kiosk is encrypted
using SSL cryptography. This ensures that all communication
is private and cannot be intercepted or altered.
